QR Code Setup Guide

Your van, truck, or trailer is generating hundreds of impressions per day in your target market. This guide shows you how to turn those impressions into tracked, booked jobs — with the right placement, size, and analytics.

5-step setup — scan to booked job in under 15 minutes
1
Create your service page in QRScout
Go to qrscout.ai → New QR Code → Service Business template. Paste your Google Maps or website URL. The AI import pulls your business name, services, phone number, and photos and builds a mobile-optimized page in under 2 minutes.
→ Make sure your booking button is the first visible element on the page. "Book Now" or "Get a Quote" above the fold converts 3× better than below.
2
Create one QR code per placement location
Create separate codes for: rear of vehicle, driver door, passenger door, business cards, door hangers. Each points to the same booking page but tracks independently. You will learn which surface drives the most scans.
→ Label each code clearly in your QRScout dashboard: "Van Rear," "Driver Door," "Business Card," etc.
3
Order weather-resistant vinyl for your vehicle
Download the QR code image from QRScout at 1000px or larger. Take to a local sign shop or order online from StickerMule or Vistaprint. Specify UV-laminated vinyl. Minimum 4 inches square for reliable scanning from car-length distance. Budget $40–80 for a professionally produced vehicle decal.
→ Paper stickers on a working vehicle degrade in weeks. Vinyl lasts years and maintains scan reliability through washing and weather.
4
Install and test before deploying
Apply decal. Test scan at 10 feet from a phone in normal lighting. Test at dusk. Test with the phone camera at an angle (45°). If any test fails, the code is too small or contrast is too low — reprint before you drive.
5
Check your analytics weekly
QRScout dashboard shows scans per placement, button taps (booking vs call vs leave), and day-of-week patterns. Scan count = awareness. Button tap = intent. If your scan rate is high but booking tap rate is low, the page needs to change — not the van.
Placement guide — where to put codes and why
Rear of vehicle ★ Priority 1
Highest-converting placement
People behind you at a red light have 30–60 seconds with nothing to do. Minimum 4″ square. Center or slightly right where the eye lands naturally.
Size: 4″–6″ · Vinyl: required · Expected scan rate: highest
Driver & passenger doors
Works while parked on the job
Neighbors walking past see your van at the curb. Door codes work for local market building more than traffic-light impressions.
Size: 3″–4″ · Vinyl: required · Expected scan rate: medium
Equipment trailer rear gate
High visibility in residential areas
If you tow a trailer, the rear gate is often larger and more visible than the van. Premium real estate for the QR code.
Size: 5″–8″ · Vinyl: required · Expected scan rate: high
Business cards & door hangers
Leave-behind conversion tool
Cards left at job sites, door hangers in the neighborhood while you work. Different code ID so you can track separately from vehicle scans.
Size: 1″ on card is fine (short distance) · Paper ok
QR code size reference — minimum reliable scan distance

What your analytics tell you
📈
High scans, low taps
The van is working. Your page isn't converting. Fix the booking button placement or offer — not the code.
🎉
High taps, repeat days
A specific neighborhood is engaging consistently. Prioritize that area in your schedule. The market there is warm.
📍
Low scans overall
Code may be too small, wrong placement, or low contrast. Check size first (minimum 4″). Try rear of vehicle if not already there.
Set up your van QR code in 5 minutes
QRScout's service business template builds your booking page in 60 seconds. Track which placement drove the booking tap — and on the Growth plan, capture the name and phone number of everyone who taps “Book a Service” so you can follow up directly.
